He has served 3 terms consecutively from 2013 (Bi-election), to 2014 and 2018 respectively. Chief Tony enjoys serving his people as a community leader and national/international political representative. His aspirations include: protecting the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation’s Inherent and Treaty Rights, maintaining his community’s culture, language, history, and customs, working with the elders and staff to revive tribal laws, building businesses, generating capital, improving education services, advancing wellness and supporting equity, Justice and the development of future generations.
Traditionally, growing up, Tony was called “Mitaushin” (Grandfather) by his parents. Most recently, in ceremony, he received the name “Standing Rock” by a Cree Elder.

“We, the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, will protect and promote our cultural and spiritual values. We will strive to live in harmony and respect the Creator and all creation. We will commit to our Isga beliefs and utilize every resource that the Creator has bestowed upon us to empower our people, spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally.”
Statement of Intent
As Chief of Alexis, I stand here on behalf of the People and am proud to take on the responsibility of maintaining the integrity of the Band’s intergovernmental relationships. The growth of my People and development of our Nation is my priority. I surrender each day to the Creator and commit my plans for his blessing. I rely on my Elders for their knowledge and guidance and work collectively with my Council to make the best decisions for our community. As leaders, we rely on our Executive and Management Teams; those that work in Band Departments and Businesses, to ensure cooperation transparency, equal opportunity for our members, and the wellbeing of our people are sustained. I work hard to achieve success for our Nation and walk in the footsteps of our Mitaushin who signed Treaty with the Queen. I am grateful for the opportunity to create partnerships which provide long-term economic growth and prosperity for the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation.
